92pts. OFS is De Loach’s top Chardonnay, and in ’99 it’s taken to a late harvest ripeness. You can almost feel the fall winds in the glass, taste the ripe apples about to fall from the tree, the golden raisins, the golden grasses. It’s huge, and rather statuesque for all that ripeness – there’s enough structure to hold all the ripeness so it tastes clear, not at all muddled. Wine maker notes

De Loach 2001 California Chardonnay was produced from carefully selected Chardonnay grapes grown throughout California. Our Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures then 1/3 of the wine is aged in small French oak barrels for 5 months.
